cooking is an adventure.

Listen up local folks! If you haven’t been to an event where Gerard’s Paella is front & center (a Sonoma County local’s wedding, for example, or The Great Handcar Regatta), then you might not be quite as excited as us to learn that Relish Culinary Adventures in Healdsburg, Calif. has snagged him for a couple of paella cooking classes over the next couple of months. This weekend’s May 27 class is sold out, but act early for the upcoming June class to make sure you get a spot! The deets are these:

celiac disease awareness with the SF Giants.

Last year the San Francisco Giants made baseball history by winning the world series for the first time since their move from New York to San Francisco in 1957. They were the underdogs; the surprise winners; the group of misfits who pulled together and made. it. happen. Kinda fitting that AT&T Park — the Giants’ home stadium — is hosting the second annual Celiac Disease Awareness Night on Monday, June 6, 2011, because even though it’s become worlds easier to be a Celiac, we’re still the underdogs of society trying to find our own path to health while maintaining our regular interactions with society.

gearing up for camp celiac 2011.

Remembering the care free days of summer camp is a bit of a Wonder Years moment for us. We know, we know…it’s a challenge to even think about how good summer feels during the dead of winter, but try to feel the sun on your skin. The smiles exchanged with the cute girl/boy across the lake. The swimming, the singing of campy camp songs, the making of new & lasting friendships, the popsicle stick crafts. Some kids with severe food allergies may never experience summer camp, but since 2007 the Taylor Family Foundation has been dedicated to providing an authentic summer camp experience for kids aged 9 – 17 who have been diagnosed with Celiac disease.
