It was a great weekend here in Sonoma County, which began with a meal at The Farmhouse on Friday night and ended with an exciting Sunday afternoon at the Handcar Regatta, where handmade contraptions raced for bragging rights along the abandoned railroad tracks in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square. There was simply no way to top off the roller-coaster of flavors that entered our mouths – from Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit to a round-the-world cheese course, to gluten-free garbanzo bread with spicy mint chutney. Diavola Pizzeria in Geyserville, Calif., how we love you. We love you for your house-cured meats, your thoughtful and deeply delicious menu, and now we’re smitten with your house-made gluten-free pizza, which is crackery yet substantial, a perfect underpinning for truly Italian-style toppings. We love that you make the dough in-house. We love that you offer any of your pizzas – ANY of them! – with a gluten-free option. We love that you make us a Sicilian pizza with eggplant & cherry tomatoes & a heavy dose of je ne sai quoi on the fly, even though it’s not on the menu (shhhh, readers, don’t tell!).

Frequent readers of this blog are most likely aware of the fact that we like to use epicurious.com as a starting point for our recipes. The recipes we find aren’t always gluten-free (we don’t mind converting them to GF recipes), but did you know that you can tell epicurious to show you only GF recipes? How cool is that?!

He once said “if the patient can be cured at all, it must be by means of diet.” Soooo….if ever there were a day to eat as many GF treats as your body desires, today is the day. The Lab is officially declaring it – in addition to National Celiac Awareness Day – GF Amesty Day. Woo!
