rock ‘n’ pop with rock ‘n’ roll gourmet.
March 29, 2010
Waaay back in January The Lab had a run-in with some serious rock stars at the Fancy Food Show. The booth was groovy, the samples were delicious, the products they handed us were plentiful, and the gals working the booth were super sweet. I’m talking about Rock ‘n’ Roll Gourmet, the maker of Hippie Chips, a puffed potato chip in a multitude of tongue-tingling flavors, and Rock ‘n’ Pop, which is decidedly NOT your county fair’s kettle corn.
We especially like the Hippie Chips because they’re healthful, they’re corn-allergy-friendly (we’re just as happy dipping a Lime is On My Side Hippie Chip into guac as we are a regular ol’ tortilla chip), and the range of fun flavors appeal to the rock ‘n’ roller in each of us. Aly loves anything sour cream or ranch, so she’s doubly happy with the Woodstock Ranch and Chive-Talkin’ Sour Cream flavors. Molly, our signature savory girl, was a surprising sucker for the Memphis Blues Barbeque, a sweeter, spicier and smokier take on your run-of-the-mill BBQ potato chip. Heather surprised us all by going simple, and declared Sea of Love Salt her fave, especially as a vehicle for hummus. Most of all, these little bags of healthful goodness were a perfect foil to all the sweets we’ve been eating as we perfect our recipes for the cookbook, due out this summer.
Check the Rock ‘n’ Roll Gourmet website for help finding the product in your area, or if you already know you’re a Number One Fan, check out the option to buy a mix & match case of the goodies you like best!
